This Term the Grade 1/2’s will be learning all about TOYS. To begin this learning, we are asking that all students bring a toy that is special to them in the first week of Term 3, please make sure it is clearly labelled. We are also asking that they write about their toy during the holidays to get their thinking ready. They will need to answer the below questions and bring them back in the paper bag provided as well as their toy in the first week of school. This is not an independent writing task, so your assistance with this task is encouraged if required.
Where did your toy come from? (Was it a present, from a family member, for a special occasion?) Why is it special to you? Do you play with your toy by yourself or with someone else? How old were you when you got this toy? Does your toy move? Does your toy have different parts? If so what are they?
The students will be presenting their work in front of their classmates in the first weeks of term 3, so if they would like to practise their presentation at home, especially if they tend to get a little shy, then that would be great.
Also, Toy catalogues will be needed for all sorts of explorations, so if you have any please bring them in!
If you have any questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact one of the teachers. Thank you in advance, Miss Jennah, Prue, Luisa, Rosa, Mrs Khattar and Sengul
After some fairly serious problems with the borrowing system, we are pleased to let you know that all students can resume borrowing. Please make sure your child is returning and changing library books regularly. As we all know, great readers become great writers and we have so many books for the children to enjoy. Let’s work together to make reading FUN!!
Prue and the 1/2 Learning Area Teachers
We would like to update you about borrowing of library books. Unfortunately, we have a problem with the system that our IT experts are endeavouring to sort out. The students are not able to borrow library books until this problem has been cleared. I will let you know as soon as the students can start borrowing once again. Please note that this does not effect home reading.
Prue Satchwell, Resource Manager
Last year we had a wonderful team of helpers who organised the borrowing and returning of books for students in our area. The helpers also kept the library tidy and if there was time assisted in the covering of new books.
We have library borrowing each day so that students can change their book any day. The helpers came in the last hour but usually the last half hour of the day is sufficient time to do the borrowing.
It is anticipated that we will be ready to start library borrowing next week, Week 3.
If you are interested in helping out on a particular afternoon, please email me with your availability at email@example.com
I look forward to hearing from you.
Prue Satchwell, 1/2 Learning Area
